Infrastructure Suitability Assessment – Extension Project

This project builds on the original Infrastructure Suitability Assessment by developing a clear engagement framework to support access for higher mass vehicles on currently non-permitted routes.

The forestry industry is a major user of road networks across the Murray Region Forestry Hub (MRFH), relying on the safe and efficient transport of wood and wood products—often originating from remote forest locations.
Improving freight efficiency requires consideration of higher productivity vehicle options, which can reduce costs, minimise interactions with other road users, and enhance overall supply chain performance.

However, regulatory complexity and the need for coordinated, multi-agency engagement present ongoing challenges. This project will provide a structured pathway to help MRFH stakeholders navigate these barriers and achieve more efficient and practical transport outcomes.
